Once Coley's charming disposition returned, I offered to take him to Toys R Us to spend the $20 head had earned a week or so back.
His response???..."Can we go some place where I can buy pens and pencils and supplies like that instead?"
And since he was talking to a girl whose prize-possession is a label-maker, my response was, "YES!!!"
So off to Staples we went.
The red marks around his eyes are poison oak. (He got mad at his dad when they went camping last week and went for a walk, right through a field of poison oak.)
He has a new facination with high-quality pens and mechanical pencils (but was sorely disappointed to find out that most of those brand-names he wanted were out of his price-range.)
And (as usual) he had run out of graph paper (His favorite.) so he needed some of that as well.
And even though its only June, he's already thinking about how he's going to keep his stuff organized next year as a 7th grader.
So I agreed to pay for half of a new, zip-up binder with a built-in calculator for next school-year. (I couldn't say no...I am a sucker for all organizationally-related things and the little punks I'm raising know it.)
I can be talked into just about anything at Staples.
What a doll....gosh he is getting so grown up. Yea Cole....for the great choices, and yea Karen for encouraging him. You are a dynamic duo!

Growing up, and still today, nothing makes me as happy as paper and pens. LOVE them! Great choices, Cole! :)

Just looking at these photos makes me want to go to Staples...... now. And it is so close to our home. I totally understand his request. Maybe we should always walk into Staples with ( just) $20.00. I think I will try it and see what I can score!
P.S. Love his smile in the aisle!

My soon-to-be seventh grader is also obsessed with mechanical pencils! Good to know he's not the only one....

I love anything to do with organizing myself however my house at the moment feels the complete opposite...something to do with looking after little people and being exhausted once they are in bed at night. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

I LOVE Staples! I have to make a list when I go there or before you know it I've just spent $50 on office supplies. It's second only to scrapbooking stores.

The lure of office supplies, new crayons, and sharp pencils is strong!! I want to go to Office Depot right now (we do not have a Staples). I can not believe Coley is going into 7th grade!!! Kids grow up way too fast!
