Just a few more from the beach (mostly of Annie since she was the only one who would stay in one place)...
These two are always singing (and I love it).
Blowing me kisses.
And that's finally it for the beach pictures.
Someone asked yesterday why I preach to my students not to tilt their horizons so I figured I should clarify...
My recommendation is that whatever you do and however your choose to compose your photos, do it with intent. So, if there are strong horizontal or vertical lines in your photo (like those created by a horizon, a fence, a window frame, etc.), my recommendation is to do one of two things:
1. Make sure those lines are perfectly parallel with the frame of your camera.
OR
2. Strongly angle those lines, avoiding that 'in-between' look where it looks like you slightly and accidentally angled the lines.
You just don't want your photos to look accidentally composed, you want them to look intentionally composed.
(That's not written in stone of course and rules are always made to be broken.)
Love the picture of Annie blowing kisses!

I enjoyed all beach sets! These photos look like the camera is on the sand GASP! if a granule should enter! Do you cover your camera or do anything to prevent sand from entering?

I can't tell you how many times I click on my link to your blog so I can see if there are any new pictures up:) These are great!! And I also wonder what you do about the sand.....

The photo of Annie blowing kisses is a treasure. It's lovely that your girls sing together, hope it's something they never stop doing for your sake.
Cheers.
another one who wants to know what you do about sand, I'm never game to take the 'good' camera to the beach just the P&S, or hubby's hehe.

Maybe you've answered this before, but I'm a little nuts when it comes to sand and my camera. I don't mind taking it to the beach and keeping it in my bag and only taking it out for the occasional shot. But.... these photos look like you got down and dirty and laid on your belly on the sand with your camera to get some of these shots. I've done that on grass, but on sand how do you protect your camera??? do you wrap it in a towel?

Thanks for the tip on the horizon. I have been guilty of slight tilting but will stop immediately!
I can't wait to learn so much more from you...Sept 14th can't get here soon enough!

OK. love the shots but gotta tell you , I also love Annie's little white frilly shirt. Wherever did you get it??? My daughter is just a little older than Annie I think so I might need to search it out for next summer.

brilliant advice. I always say, 'it has to be obvious that you meant to do it' when it comes to the tilt but doing it with intent is a much better choice of words. love the blog, love your work, found you via Ali and...do i even need to say so jealous you're all going to greece? how exciting.
