Josh Downs is home and everyone's life is a little brighter.
(He's filling a position in the Civil Engineering Dept. over at Kingsley Field for eight months while his boss is deployed in Afghanistan - so he's over there for two weeks out of each month).
ETA: His degree is actually in Mechanical Engineering but his regular full-time job is doing system analysis for a company called Portland Engineering (he only works as a Civil Engineer in the military).
Such a happy look on Annie's face! She's definitely glad to see her daddy!

Yay!
So he's a civil engineer? (Some of us were wondering. ;)

You hit the nail on the head with that one...everything is a little brighter when Daddy is home. My DH travels quite a bit for work; he was off to Amsterdam for the week this morning and it can be especially tough on the kids some days. I understand Annie's joyful smile most thoroughly...my kiddos will have it on their faces Friday evening ;-)) Glad that Josh is home safely for another two weeks. Enjoy!

Our preacher said one Father's Day: "I didn't grow up in a dysfunctional home....my daddy made it functional."
Well said, Karen. Somehow, a word from "Dad" is gospel.
Glad he's back home safe (and a year older :)

im a gp gal and was in your last two classes here. i bought the d40, a 28-135mm and the50mm 1.4 you recommended. do you use the 50mm on regular shots or just portrait shots? also do you set all the customizable featuers like white balance, filter color, etc. or use the default settings? i shoot manual and know all that but this is my first digital and i am overwhelmed by all the customization features!!! (I was the one with 4 young kids and a cabin in union creek)
