Heading up to Salem to teach tonight at Scrapbook Fever.

Wanted to post real quick before I head out though because I was tagged by Katie and because this photo or Courtney is one of my favorites (I keep meaning to scrap it, but just can't get the time).

This was hard for me because I have a bad habit of calling just about every song my favorite song (Josh just laughs when I say that anything is my favorite - guess I use the term a little too frivolously).

Whatever it takes.

Whatever it takes to keep the little missy happy (even if it means drool and spit-up all over my stash of fake flowers).

Especially the last couple of weeks since she started teething (which seem to have resulted in some pretty unproductive weeks for me work wise).

And since she doesn't really seem too interested in any of her toys - it's napkins and paper and ribbon and magazines that keep her busy.

Put her on the floor with the newest toy I spent 20 bucks on and she'll scream.

Put her on the floor with a napkin and she'll sit (totally content), tearing it into little tiny pieces for 40 minutes.

A little old school.

Anyone remember CK's Hot Looks for Scrapbooks (I never was too keen on that name)?

But some talented artists:  Karen Burniston, Lilac Chang (she's a professional photographer now - hasn't scrapbooked in a couple of years), Brenda Arnall, Shannon Wolz and Kelly Anderson (where did she go?), who definitely had some hot looks for scrapbooks.  And I'm in there too.

I was showing one of my layouts from that book, the other night when I was teaching here in Grants Pass.  Had a kinda cool technique on it and I told the gals at class that I would post it here.

Mind you, this is circa 2003...hence the dark and dreary colors, heavy collage and aged metals (but I still love it).

And cutie-patootie Ross back when his cheeks were pudgy and squeezable.

Photo transfer technique:

1.  Print your photo onto t-shirt transfer paper (I picked this paper up at Staples office supply store - and yep, it really is the same stuff that you use to iron images onto t-shirts).  Your photo should be printed in reverse (mirror image) if possible.

2.  Sand the edges around the photo on your t-shirt transfer paper gently with sand paper.

3.  Lay your photo "image side down" on a piece of patterned paper, cardstock or fabric.

4.  Use an iron on the "cotton" setting (high) and begin ironing the image (it takes quite a bit of ironing for the image to transfer.

5.  Check to see that the image is transferring by gently lifting up a corner of the photo (if it isn't transferring, iron it longer). 

6.  Slowly peel off the transfer paper.

Pretty easy stuff - doesn't take too long and the results are worth the small amount of time it takes.  I did this one onto patterned map paper, but it looks good on fabric and cardstock too - not as dramatic a result, but still cool.

Scrapbook Connection

A late night last night at my hometown store, Scrapbook Connection.

Taught The "J" Word class for the first time (I know, I know, I've said it before but...I LOVE THIS CLASS). 

My Impress-On swatchbooks didn't arrive in time, but I had a back-up plan (and you know I'll get them to you all just as soon as the mailman brings them) - aside from that -  it went wonderfully.

I've been teaching to this same group of gals for several years now - and it's always a good time.

Teaching this class in Salem on Friday night Scrapbook Fever - really, really, really looking forward to it.

Scrapbooking Outside the Box.

Did I mention that I love the name of that store?  Suzie (the owner) said it was ok if I named my next class after her store (Scrapbooking Outside the Box) and I really am going to.

If you ever find yourself near Bend - be sure you hit this store.  Just a wonderful place that makes you feel motivated to scrapbook (and spend money).

Really great group of gals (thanks everyone for making it such a fun weekend). 

Back home and teaching tonight at my local store, Scrapbook Connection tonight.

Go Beavs.

We went to Coley's open-house last night.  He was so excited to show us around his class and so excited because his teacher is a Beavers fan.

Cole introduced Josh as his Beaver Dad to his Beaver Teacher.

Everything he has been able to pick in his classroom has been orange (Beavers colors).  He has an orange cubby, an orange star, an orange station card with his photo on it.

When I was filling out paperwork for his new teacher, Coley was helping me with some of the questions: 

1.  What are some things that you like?  Beavers.  Little Beavers.  Big Beavers.  Nice Beavers.

2.  What are some things you dislike?  Ducks.  Little Ducks.  Mean Ducks.  Lame Ducks.

(Big college rivalry here in Oregon between the OSU Beavers and the Uof O Ducks).

At dinnertime when Coley says a prayer, he asks God to please let the Beavers win if they are playing in any games that night and usually throws in a Go Beavs right before he says Amen (actually, Josh sometimes does that too).

He wants me to paint his room orange & black (not happening).

Yesterday, he was saying that Courtney (who waivers between being a Beavers fan and a Duck fan depending upon what kind of mood she is in), is half cool and half lame, but that Ross (who is a Ducks fan), is 120 million percent lame.

I am an Owl, who sometimes masquerades in a Beavers t-shirt (only because I get lots of cat-calls from Josh when I'm wearing orange), but Coley seems mildly tolerable of Owls.

Josh and his Brother and Coley went fishing last weekend.  They stopped at the store to pick up rain parkas and the only colors they had were green with yellow stripes (Duck colors) or pink with purple stripes.

Coley almost chose a pink & purple rain parka over a parka that would make him look like a Duck.

He did finally decided on the yellow & green one - but was desperately trying to talk Josh into trading with him.

Trying to pack kits, get Courtney ready for gymnastics, give Annie a bath, answer emails, pick up the house, keep the laundry going  (and feed Batman and Snow White).

Today...

1.  I realized that I look like a dork when I dance (snapping my fingers like us white girls do).

2.  I woke up at 5:30 am with a headache and too much on my mind to fall back asleep.

3.  I've got at least 14 million loads of laundry to do.

4.  I'm excited about heading out of town towmorrow.

5.  I am NOT going to have a blended Heath mocha from the coffee shop no matter how good it sounds.

6.  I am going to be a patient Mom.

7.  I am going to be productive (perhaps, I should stop blogging then).

8.  I am going to let the dog bark all day without yelling at her.

9.  I am feeling overwhelmed and having a tough time working through it.

10.    I had Frosted Mini-Wheats for breakfast.

I can't believe what a big ole' moose Annie looks like in comparison to Taylor (her new cousin).

Off to work this morning and lots to do before I leave - so I'll keep this short.

Oh, meant to mention yesterday - I'll be teaching in Bend, Oregon this weekend at Scrapbooking Outside the Box (love that name) 541 318 7312.
