My friend (Coral) and I took Courtney Lee out to lunch a couple of weeks back, and though Courtney thought that meant she had redeemed her lunch ticket with me, I showed up at lunchtime at her school last week to surprise her.
Much like my lunch date with Cole, we did a whole lotta talking and not much shooting though...
And though we did start off talking about the same things Cole and I had talked about the day before (what each of us were doing right and areas where each of us needed some improvement) our conversation quickly turned to some things that were weighing pretty heavily on Courtney's heart.
So we drank iced tea (with extra lemon), and talked, and ate fries, and cried, and then talked some more before high-tailing it back to school after realizing that an hour and a half had already passed by.
And I feel the need mention that prior to getting into all of those heart matters, Courtney Lee said that one of the things she felt I was doing 'right' was feeding everyone so healthy. (She says she feels greasy and nasty when she eats bad, but that she feels 'fresh' when she eats good.) Once again though, I couldn't help but notice the irony in the fact that she was telling me this over a plate of fries.
Good to know that someone (obviously not Cole) considers it one of my strengths as a mom.
