Last night while she was saying her prayers, she prayed that she would always be my baby.
And this morning when I walked into her room to wake her up, she immediately shot upright and hollered, "I'm seven!"
And is it just me, but does seven somehow seem way older than six?
And just a few things I want to remember...
- She had refused to wear anything but dresses for the last three years, but now, all she wants to wear is skinny jeans, t-shirts and a really ugly hand-me-down purple sweatshirt that used to be Courtneys.
- She has a wild sense of humor.
- Our favorite inside joke right now is to call each other 'turtle', 'turd' for short.
- Her dad bought her a pair of shiny black shoes with a tiny heel on them and she wants to wear them every day and with every thing.
- She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
- Peanut butter sandwiches and strawberries are still her favorite foods.
- When she showed her dad a picture of her holding a classmate's hand (a boy) this morning, I overheard him tell her that he was sending her to the nunnery.
- Her favorite thing to do with Courtney Lee is play school.
- She's a great reader.
- Her last report card said that she's a great leader, but that she just needs to 'lead' with a little less bossiness.
- She gets surprisingly embarrassed when people tell stories about her.
- She is constantly 'binding' her own books made out of photos and paper and endless amounts of staples.
- She still occasionally throws up when me make her take a 'no thank-you' bite of something utterly disgusting like zucchinis.
- I don't correct her when she mispronounces words like 'unlegal' (illegal) because I love her mispronunciations.
- I can't walk anywhere without her pinching my bum.
- Her favorite thing to do with Cole is to squeal/wrestle.
- She feels like she's struggling with math, so she has taken it upon herself to work on math problems and flashcards at night.
- She's been getting in trouble a lot lately for being argumentative (which doesn't fly in this house.)
- She misses Ross so much that it makes her cry sometimes just to talk about him.
- Her legs are so skinny that I just giggle inside sometimes when I see them.
- She literally just started sleeping through the night and in her own bed a couple of weeks ago. (Since she was tiny, she has had night-terrors, has walked in her sleep, has talked in her sleep, has grinded her teeth, has been scared to sleep in her own bed and has had nightmares worse than any kid I know.)
- She's the only kid in the house that doesn't like to miss school for any reason.
And now I'm feeling sentimental, looking at pictures from when Courtney Lee turned seven and when Coley turned seven. I might even have to go dig up some pictures from when Roscoe-T (who is about to turn 21) turned seven.
Happy Birthday Yans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Annie, have a good day! Love you :)

I used to mad at my husband if he corrected our daughter. I mean how many years of basketti, babe-in suits, and mandaise (mayonnaise) do we have? ;) Hope she has a wonderful birthday!

Happy Birthday to Annie!! Hope her day is wonderful. Isn't it crazy that your baby is 7?
My daughter, Anna, turned 6 today. She is our baby. Time goes so quickly.
Thanks to your class, Karen, I was able to take a picture of Anna and her daddy having breakfast this morning, in a low light setting. Thank you, thank you!

Happy Birthday to Annie! I hope she knows she'll always be your baby! I cannot believe how the time has flown! She was a tiny thing when I started reading your blog, and now it's years later, and she's 7! wow! (And this spring is three years already since I took your class. It's flying, I tell you!)

Happy Birthday to Annie! She is getting so big. My oldest turned 10 on the 11th of this month and my youngest will turn 2 in April and I have a almost 9 year old and a 6 year old...they grow so fast. Not sure how it happens. Love the little facts about her! It's great to document them. I need to do this for my 10 year old!

Happy Birthday Little Miss Annie!!!! Oh how fast they grow!!! I don't correct my little one's mispronunciations either. It is too darn cute. We were just talking about that today.. all the funny things the kids have mispronounced. My sweet boy has the skinniest little leggers I have ever seen!! I keep telling him he stole Kermit's arms and legs!! hee!hee!

Love love love that Grandma Jo was #1 to wish sweet Yannie happy birthday. Oh....I agree...as soon as six is over...the years really whiz by even faster...6 seems so much closer to 10....and actually it is. I had to really laugh at your comment about being bossy...as a Kdg teacher, we used to laugh and would tell our other Kdg. teachers on our team that when the teacher tells the parent that the child is a leader...the hidden message is that the student is bossy. Made me smile and remember the days. Nothing wrong with taking charge of things...and knowing right from wrong. Happy birthday to the cutest 7 year old ever....well, Ross, Coley and Courtney were the cutest ever too! :)

Happy 7th to the most darling little 7 year old girl! MY favorite of the list about her was the One that said she is a Leader and just needs to lead with a little less Bossiness-- that is precious! Enjoy that fabulous age!!

Happy Birthday, Annie! Seven is such a fun year. And to her mom, this list is priceless! do you sit and sob when you look back at old birthday photos? My boys are 16 and 11 and it gets me every time.

My baby turned 7 in November...I agree, 7 is so much older than 6 (insert pouty face here). Hope you and Annie have a wonderful day!! Happy happy birthday, Annie!!

Our daughters are separated at birth I SWEAR! Peanut butter and strawberries, the gagging on icky foods, loving school etc that list is scarily similar. And yeah, 7 seems a ton older than 6.

Aw, Happy Birthday Annie! I remember when she was born (been following your blog a long time) and have enjoyed watching her (and your other kiddos) grown up to be a beautiful, smart kid. Thanks goodness for great parenting skills! :)

7! I can't believe she's that old! I hope she had a great day!
Posted by: Kelli | February 17, 2013 at 12:44 PM
First of all, you are correct: 7 sounds a ton older (have a turning 7 on Thurs girl)
Happy B.D. to sweet little Annie! Love seeing C & C at 7. I must have started lurking shortly after that :) Funny that I started because of some scrapbooking connection and I've barely heard you utter that word. As it turns out, I just love hearing about your family and following your fabulous pics.
