That's what three kids look like after spending an entire day anticipating an evening of bowling, only to find there were no lanes open at either one of the bowling alleys in town.
And to answer some questions:
1. The white paint color in my living room is called Betsy's Linen from Valspar.
2. I kind of got my PDF problem taken care of. When I select 'print' and then 'save as PDF', it maintains the original blue color that I want (but in my experience, that option isn't compatible for some students on the 'print it all up' page of my website.) If I choose 'print' and then 'PDF-X', it desaturates the blue color. Again, my blue looks great in RGB but CYMK looks bad/desaturated so I don't want to convert to CYMK. (Thanks for all the help and if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it!)
3. If you signed up for my online photography workshop that starts this week and haven't received any emails about it, please contact me right away at karen@snapshotsofagoodlife.com
4. I know there have been lots of questions about how I shoot at night in my house but it's not a simple topic and it's a topic that requires a certain foundation of photography information to understand. Right now, I'm working on a Making the Shot issue for my past/current students that covers this exact topic. Not sure when it's going to be done though.
5. I've taken quite a bit of grief for not offering Making the Shot to the general public but am continuing with my decision not to for several reasons:
- Haven taken the workshop, my students have a similar foundation of photography knowledge and Making the Shot is written in a way that builds on that foundation (so it may not make complete sense to someone who has not taken the course.)
- I have a lot of amazingly loyal students and I want to return that loyalty by offering something exclusively for them.
6. I did make a blog button for past/current students. Just log on to the website, select the class you were in, then 'resources' and 'misc.'
7. I feel like I'm missing something. (Sorry if I am!)
Hope your week is great.

Karen, Just wanted to say that I so enjoy your photos and your blog! I learned so much taking your class and I love so many of your ideas! Please keep doing what you are doing! LOVE it!

I think you rock for only allowing some material for your students, I haven't had the money to take your class yet but plan on it! I don't see a problem with you not being able to tell us how to take photos via comments, it's your lively hood and it's only fair to those that take your classes that you do that. Love the photo, and who are those two other kids with Annie? wink, wink xoxo from Conroe, TX!

Oh, those poor kids! If you want to try sending your Word doc to me, I'll see if I can create your PDF for you. I was able to maintain your RGB color when I did a distiller test on your web graphic.

Or I can send you my test PDF, and if it's what you're looking for I can hopefully walk you through the steps I did.

That's a bummer! It's so annoying to get the kids all excited and ready to do something, then the disappointment when it doesn't work at planned! Our remedy is that we don't tell them where we are going, then if we need to make a sudden change of plans, we can and they are no worse for the wear {although, I still feel guilty!!}

Lucky new set of students...and lucky you to meet and greet a new group of friends. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your teaching, your style and your talent. Did a workshop today and it was great, but the entire time I was thinking how wonderful your class was, and how much I appreciated you.
Happy 1st day of class, and hoping you will set that timer and get a photo of the "teacher". If I was there I would bring an apple to you! Have a good one.

I have another question. Do you still scrapbook? Will you post the last layout you did?

Just came back to make sure you knew I was kidding about the "other kids" comment I'm still in disbelief of that commentor saying too many Annie photos, lol. ;)

I love that you always stay true to yourself! I loved taking your class a couple of years ago and I am highly anticipating the second "making the shot"...loved the first one!! :))

I think you're right in keeping the "making the shot" just for past students and I admire you for sticking to your guns and your aims!

I think your students deserve that from you. I have never been a student but it shows a seen of team and togetherness. Bummer I wont know how you do your night shots, but I'll just have to do my own trial and error and find my groove.
Happy monday

Those poor kiddos! And I can't wait for the next Making the Shot.
And to anyone wondering if they should take Karen's class - YES! It is definitely worth it.

I think you are making a great business decision regarding "making the shot" Sure I'd like the information for free . . . . but it makes me want to take one of your classes just to find out! I purchased the clean color class from Erin. I love it. I'm happy with the results. Now I'm learning to set a custom white balance. Something that I hadn't bothered with before.

Come to Roseburg! =) I own a kick-butt bowling center and we DO have open lanes on Sunday nights. (I guarantee our bowling center is NOT what you would expect. It's brand new..we opened about 3 years ago.) Definitely nothing like what you have in GP. =) Love your blog, been reading for years, after I attended a class you taught here.

Umm... You are taking a lot of GRIEF?? People are telling you NO OFFENSE?? Don't mind the haters cuz! You keep doing you and brush all of the negativity aside. People should be thankful you share so much of your ideas and TIME to keep up this blog instead of being critical! I love you!
