A few years back, Josh and I went to Lincoln City for the weekend to do all of our Christmas shopping and to get some time away (just the two of us). And we made a pact that weekend that we would make it a yearly tradition.
Well, we hadn't done it since...until a couple weeks ago.
Went up to Portland for the weekend (left late on Friday night after one of Ross's musical performances).
We stayed at a hotel in downtown Portland. When we got to our room, it smelled really smoky (we had requested a non-smoking room) so when we went back to the lobby to talk to them about it, they upgraded us to another room which turned out to be the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in (albeit, I've never stayed at any fancy-schmancy hotels).
It had two big screen T.V.'s (we don't own a big screen T.V. so it was a real treat) and fancy things like really good lotion in the bathroom and really fluffy bathrobes hanging in the closet.
Josh's favorite part was the really good (free) breakfast (Josh is a big fan of all things free).
And we made a a new pact to be smart, simple shoppers this year so we put a lot of thought into everything we got and didn't overspend. And I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I normally enjoy Christmas shopping.
Josh's favorite shop (it's a Beaver shop).
My favorite shop. (What could be better than a world of cameras I ask you?)
And then we parted ways because Josh had a Beaver's game to watch and I just couldn't stand to be in the Portland area without going antiquing in Sellwood.
It was perfect; I got back just in time to watch the last 15 minutes of the game (that's all I really care about anyhow).
And the Beavers scored in the last few minutes to win the game.
And then we had dinner at Ruth's ChrisSteakhouse where I handed over my entire dinner to Josh so that I could save room for more Spinach Au gratin and Pomegranate martinis.
And then we got some dessert to go and walked back to our hotel to watch Mama Mia (my 5th time) on the big screen TV. Josh fell asleep during Mama Mia (How?...it's the best movie of all time...except Grease...Grease IS the best movie of all time).
Headed home Sunday morning after filling up on free breakfast at the hotel.
And stopped at a few antique shops in Coburg on our way home where Josh amused me by trying on hats and serenading me with a broken ukulele.
S.C.O.R.E. (it's a vintage sign marker stamp set from the late 1800's).
