Truth Serum.
The flu has been like a truth serum for Coley.
He's laid in bed for the last four days periodically saying "Mom, I have something to tell you..." and would then begin spilling his dishonesties.
"Mom, one time I spit on the floor in my bedroom."
"Mom, one time Dad asked me if I had brushed my teeth and I said yes even though it wasn't true."
"Mom, one time I peed in the bathtub."
"Mom, one time I took some playdough home from school even though the teacher said not to."
It went on for days, until yesterday when the stomach ache and the trips to the bathroom stopped.
And the whole-hearted honesty stopped along with it.

Hi
Just discovered your blog today & really enjoy it. What is it about sick kids? They are just so sweet & vulnerable I guess. My 10 year old son & I have the best heart to hearts when he's sick. Have a great weekend.

Hi Karen :)
I am interested in knowing more about your photography class that you'll be teaching at the Scrapbook Clubhouse in CT. I definitely am signing up for your classes but want to know what to expect from this one. Is it for an amateur like myself? I only have a Kodak digital camera that I wish I could replace. I know that you have a professional one and use different lenses etc. I want to learn but am afraid it would be over my head. Thanks!

Geez. I hope he didn't think he was dying and these were his deathbed confessions. Kids are funny that way. And isn't it funny how if you had found these things out at the time they happened you would have been mad, but hearing about them well after the fact lessens their "badness"? I'll try to keep this story in mind when I'm getting upset over something.

That's sweet -- although I think if it were me I'd be bleaching my tub afterwards. My oldest son is around the same age as Cole and the whole issue of getting him to be truthful is a bit of a thorny one from time to time. He's getting better -- he volunteered the information last week that he got in trouble at school for burping in his best friend's face. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if there were a few things I didn't know...

Too funny. When my son was little he was always at his best when he had a high fever. He was cheerful and full of, "I wuv you, Mommys." It made me feel strangely guilty.

My sweet daughter has lived her young life under the "Robinhood Theory". In kindergarten she stashed a handful of playdo in her daisy dress pocket and passed it out @ recess. Soooo hard to be mad @ her. This week she wrote on a bathroom stall @ school. She's 9 now and knows better. When question she admitted she drew a happy face on the door, but a "real small one". Still hard to be mad @ her. Glad your boy is back to healthy!!!

That is so funny! Did he think he was dying, or what? Maybe he thought he'd better fess up if he wanted to get into heaven! :-)

I just discovered your blog a couple of days ago and I just LOVE it!!! Your kids are so cute and sweet and as a mom of three small kids myself I can totally relate to a lot of your stories.
You are a wonderful story teller. You had me smiling so often as I read back over your blog entries.
